Elisa Lin, Plano West Senior High School, is one of 40 high school seniors from across the country selected as Finalists in the Intel Science Talent Search 2010. She will travel to Washington, D.C. in March to compete for $630,000 in awards. Two students from Plano Senior High School are Semifinalists in the same competition.
Plano ISD's annual Recruitment Open House for teachers, counselors and librarians will be held on Saturday, March 27, at Renner Middle School. Teachers who are considered to be "Highly Qualified" under "No Child Left Behind" will be admitted to the open house. Applicants can pre-register through February 19 on the district website.
Sixty-nine experienced teachers and fifty-two beginning teachers have been nominated by their peers at their respective schools as 2010 Teacher of the Year nominees. Each nominee will be honored on stage and with gifts at Plano ISD's annual Teacher of the Year Gala to be held on May 13 at Plano Centre when approximately 1,400 educators, community leaders and gala sponsors will salute teaching excellence. The evening will culminate with the surprise announcements of Plano ISD's Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year, several "Excellence in Teaching" awardees and Elementary and View the list of nominees and information about the gala on this website.
